Session · Hyatt Regency Seattle
JAMS is proud to support the data community as a sponsor of PASS Summit West, three days of sessions, keynotes, and community events at the Hyatt Regency Seattle.
JAMS Solutions Engineer Rob Newman will present The 2 A.M. Job Failure: Rethinking How DBAs Get Alerted.
Level: 100 (Beginner)
Suggested track: Professional Development
Prerequisites: None
Abstract
A failed job is only a problem if nobody finds out until morning. This session looks at common gaps in DBA on-call and alerting practices (missed notifications, alert fatigue, unclear escalation paths) and practical ways to close them, independent of any single tool.
Attendees will walk away with a checklist for auditing their own alerting and escalation setup.
