PagerDuty migration

PagerDuty bills you for every notified teammate

Stakeholders, on-call schedule members, and anyone who just gets notified all count as billable seats unless you buy a separate license for them. Here’s what a seat, an add-on, and a switch to JAMS Incident Management actually cost.

14 days, every feature, no credit card. Nothing is deleted when it ends.

What a PagerDuty seat actually costs

PagerDuty’s published pricing looks simple: two paid tiers, a free plan, and a custom enterprise tier. The estimate grows once you add what’s billed separately by default.

Free

$0/month

Up to 5 users, 1 on-call schedule, 1 escalation policy, 100 pooled SMS/phone notifications a month

Professional

$21/user/month billed annually ($25 month-to-month)

Unlimited SMS/phone, more schedules and escalation policies, basic SSO

Business

$41/user/month billed annually ($49 month-to-month)

Advanced ITSM integrations, internal status pages, more custom incident types

Enterprise (Digital Operations)

Custom pricing

Scope and terms negotiated directly with PagerDuty.

And that’s before the add-ons.

A few things that come standard elsewhere are priced separately on every PagerDuty plan:

AIOps

From $699/month billed annually

Priced further by event volume on top of that

Stakeholder licenses

$150 per 50 stakeholders/month

For teammates who need visibility but aren’t full responders

Status pages

From $89 per 1,000 subscribers/month

Premium status pages from $599/month

PagerDuty Advance (AI features)

$415/month

Add-on, annual commitment only

Live Call Routing

Custom, quoted per account

Add-on; price not published

None of this is hidden — PagerDuty publishes every number above. But it is a growing list of separate line items on top of the per-user rate, and two of them (AIOps, Advance) aren’t available at all until you’re already paying for Professional or Business.

The number that grows isn’t the seat count

There’s no deadline forcing a PagerDuty review the way there is with Opsgenie. That’s exactly why teams don’t revisit it until a renewal quote lands with a new add-on attached, or headcount grows and nobody re-checked who actually needs a full seat versus a stakeholder license.

Buyer-side contract data shows PagerDuty agreements commonly include annual price escalation clauses of 3–7%, plus true-up provisions that charge for users added mid-contract at the existing per-seat rate.

Simple per-seat pricing, published up front

JAMS Incident Management charges per user too — Free for up to 5 users, Starter at $6/user/month billed annually, Professional at $16, Enterprise custom. SSO, premium integrations, the AI Helper, and audit trail are included at the Professional tier, not separate purchases you negotiate after the fact.

Alerting, escalation, and on-call in one place

JAMS Incident Management routes alerts to the person who can fix the problem, escalates when nobody answers, and keeps the on-call schedule that decides who that is. Alerting and escalation shouldn’t depend on someone watching a screen.

Six channels

Voice, SMS, push, email, Microsoft Teams, and Slack. Voice and SMS cover the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia today. Contact us for other regions. Every other channel works anywhere.

Policy-driven escalation

Set who gets paged, on which channel, and how long the system waits before it moves to the next person.

Two-way integrations

Datadog, Azure Monitor, ServiceNow, and Zendesk. Acknowledge or resolve in JAMS Incident Management and the source system updates too. Email over IMAP works as an alert source.

Single sign-on

OIDC, with setup guides for Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Google Workspace, and Auth0.

Hosted on Microsoft Azure

TLS in transit, stored provider credentials encrypted at rest, tenant isolation, and audit logging.

Job failures open incidents

Teams running JAMS Scheduler can have a failed job open an incident automatically.

Hear what a real page sounds like

Watch an alert route, escalate, and land as a phone call.

Prove it pages the right person before you switch

You don’t have to choose between testing properly and keeping PagerDuty running. Point a copy of your alerts at JAMS Incident Management, rebuild one escalation policy, and let both tools page for a week.

1

Start the trial. Every feature is unlocked for 14 days, with 50 SMS and 10 voice calls, and you can invite the whole rotation.

2

Rebuild your highest-severity escalation policy and on-call schedule. Count only the people who actually need to receive and act on a page — that’s the seat count that determines your real cost, the same way it should have determined your PagerDuty one.

3

Connect the source that matters most, whether that’s Datadog, Azure Monitor, ServiceNow, Zendesk, a webhook, or email.

4

On day 14, nothing is deleted. Pick a plan, or stay on Free if your team is five people or fewer.

Frequently asked questions

Is PagerDuty shutting down?

No. Unlike Opsgenie, PagerDuty isn’t being sunset — this guide is about cost and billing fit, not a forced deadline.

How is PagerDuty priced?

Per user. Free covers up to 5 users. Professional is $21/user/month billed annually ($25 month-to-month). Business is $41/user/month billed annually ($49 month-to-month). Enterprise (Digital Operations) is custom.

What counts as a ‘user’ in PagerDuty?

Anyone added to the account — including people only receiving notifications or included in a schedule, not just people who actively manage incidents.

What costs extra on top of a PagerDuty seat?

AIOps, stakeholder licenses, status pages, PagerDuty Advance, and Live Call Routing are all separate purchases. See the breakdown above.

How is JAMS Incident Management priced?

Per user. Free covers up to five users. Starter is $6/user/month billed annually for up to 25 users, Professional is $16 for up to 50, and Enterprise is custom. Monthly billing adds $2/user.

What counts against my JAMS allowance?

Only SMS and voice calls. Email, push, Microsoft Teams, and Slack are unlimited on every plan, including Free.

What does the free trial include?

14 days, every feature unlocked, 50 SMS, 10 voice calls, no credit card. Nothing is deleted when it ends — choose a plan, or stay on Free if your team is five people or fewer.

Do I need JAMS Scheduler to use this?

No. JAMS Incident Management is a standalone product. If you do run JAMS Scheduler, a failed job can open an incident automatically.

Which regions get voice and SMS?

The United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia today. Email, push, Microsoft Teams, and Slack work anywhere.
